History of Sweetwater Colorado

Sweetwater Colorado appears in the 1949 Rand McNally Atlas.  The settlement can be found on the United States Geological Survey map located at http://pubs.usgs.gov/sim/2004/2820/pdf/LeadvilleMapPrint.pdf.  This file is a 9.7MB download and it is well worth downloading because it is rich with Central Colorado Mountain history.

Sweetwater is listed in the Denver Public Library - Colorado Place Names as a settlement located on the D&RG Railroad (now Union Pacific RR) in Section 3, Township 4 South, Range 86 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian, Eagle County, Colorado.  This file can be downloaded at http://www.history.denverlibrary.org/research/place_names/place_names_eagle.pdf
